2011 UWSU Elections voting is cancelled and will be re-run

This week the University of Westminster Students' Union (UWSU) has been running its elections for Sabbatical Officer and NUS Delegate positions.
Having a fair and transparent election is extremely important.  Unfortunately there have been some incidents this week which has brought the fairness of the election into question.

Voting was due to close today (Thursday 17 March) but we have taken the decision to cancel the election and re-run the voting in a few weeks time.
The decision has been taken to ensure the legitimacy and democratic integrity of our elections.

We take our elections very seriously, as Sabbatical Officer and NUS Delegate positions carry the huge responsibility of representing Westminster's 23,000 students.  It is vital that students elected into these positions have been voted in as part of a fair, transparent and legitimate process.
Details of the new election week will be announced as soon as it has been confirmed.

If you have already voted your vote will not be counted.  You will be able to vote again when the voting reopens.
All candidates have been informed of this decision and they will cease campaigning until further notice.

Thank you to all of those who have voted so far, we encourage you to vote again when the election reopens.

Robin Law
UWSU President of on behalf of the UWSU team
