Dear Student,
Welcome back to the university after the winter break. I hope you had a pleasant few weeks and are now ready to continue your studies. Of course, this semester is crucial as it brings together your assessments so far with the examination period. Please ensure that you take time to plan your work schedule so that you have sufficient time to revise and can perform at your best. I wish you good luck and hope to see you all progressing into the next year or completing your studies.
I would like to remind you of the student code of conduct which can be found at http://www.wmin.ac.uk/Default. aspx?page=19031. Last semester I dealt with a number of issues relating to behaviour and misuse of equipment and in some cases thefts. I hope you will be encouraged to protect and look after the investment in the equipment and laboratories we have made on your behalf so that it is there for you to use and for those that will follow you. We are also based in a residential area so I ask you to take that into account and conduct yourself appropriately as Westminster students when you are off-site especially in the local vicinity.
This semester you will be asked to complete the National Student Survey (if you are on level 6) or the internal Student Experience Survey (if you are on any other level). These are important barometers that allow us to benchmark ourselves nationally with other institutions and to tell us what is and what isn't working. The process only takes a few minutes and I encourage you to give us your feedback so that we can get even better.
I thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.
Yours
Professor G.M. Megson
Dean, ECS
